NIGH's CONTRIBUTIONS to NIGHTINGALE's 200th

Our NIGH team has been very busy in celebration of Florence Nightingale's 200th Birthday on May 12, 2020—and throughout the 2020 International Nursing Week surrounding May 12th — including these postings below.

At noon on Nightingale's Birthday, we joined with partners and nurses in a Virtual Worldwide Meditation —iin many language versions—to honour all of those who have dedicated their lives to caring for us in the time of worldwide need. The Meditation was so well-received that we are planning to feature and post it throughout the 2020 Year of the Nurse & the Midwife.

During this same week, we were also privileged to be granted a series of Awards from the  International Visioneers Network — a 'Heroine of Humanity' for Florence Nightingale herself — a Visioneers' Award for Project Excellence for NIGH — a 'Visionary Leader' Award for Wayne Kines and Lifetime Achievement Awards for Dr. Barbara Dossey— for Dr. Deva-Marie Beck— for Cyril Ritchie and for Dr. Phalakshi Manrjekar.

An In-Depth Webinar Featuring Nightingale & NIGH—Broadcast Worldwide

Hosted by the Scientific & Medical Network (SNM) in Britain —a leading international forum for people engaged in creating a new worldview for the 21st century, this Webinar featured NIGH’s International Co-Directors, Dr. Barbara Dossey & Dr. Deva-Marie Beck who shared Nightingale’s relevance to today, including vibrant images and rich dialogue with 30 participants from across the world.

Celebrating Nightingale's 200th Birthday Party via Zoom in Toronto
The leading nurses of the 'Peel Chapter' of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)—joining with the Community Health Nurses' Initiatives Group (CHNIG)—decided that Florence Nightingale would have wanted her nurses to have some fun on her 200th birthday!  So they hosted this 'Zoom Party' to celebrate Miss Nightingale with more than 50 people attending!   NIGH's own Dr. Deva-Marie Beck was happy to be invited  to share ideas  about Nightingale's own thoughts related to  the challenges facing Canadian nurses today.

Additional 'Party' presenters included Ontario Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) and Registered Nurse, Natalia Kusendova, who joined the Zoom Party from her hospital posting where she continues to serve patients afflicted with the COVID 19 virus.
Sharing the 'Nightingale Prayer' in Scotland
Much to our delight, we discovered that Ms. Clare Cable — CEO & Nurse Director of the Queen’s Nursing Institute [of] Scotland (QNIS) posted her reading of our ‘Nightingale Prayer’ —shared from their website on May 12, 2020, to inspire appreciation for Nightingale and today’s nurses—during Nightingale’s 200th Birthday on May 12, 2020. QNIS promotes excellence in community nursing—to improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland—enabling nurses to be the very best they can be—and championing them as advocates for quality health and care.  KUDOS & THANKS to Clare Cable & QNIS for this posting!
