Our Vision, Mission & Values

The Nightingale Initiative for Global Health — often called ‘NIGH’ — is a catalytic grassroots-to-global movement and community — remembering and appreciating why, how and what Florence Nightingale achieved in her time.
• Our Vision  is to renew the flame of Florence Nightingale’s legacy by inspiring nurses — including student nurses — and concerned citizens to tell their stories — as global citizens advocating for a healthy world!
• Our Mission  is three-fold:
To mobilize public opinion — to reach all UN Sustainable Development Goals and to promote the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
To inform, engage & empower the world’s estimated 27 million nurses, related students and concerned citizens to participate in story-telling advocacy, dialogue and liaison — local to global.
To understand that the actions we take for our own health are relevant to the health of all nations.
• Our Values  include promoting and modeling new methods for working together in the global community —to raise global public concern and commitment toward achieving a healthy world.

We value collaborative initiatives and communications to give nurses, midwives and concerned citizens a voice and create opportunities to realize the potential for their unique contributions toward health and well-being for all.

We value the legacy of Florence Nightingale and other nurses and healthcare workers — past and present — who have shown, by their example, how their actions contribute significantly to a peaceful, prosperous and healthy world.
