2) In Thailand, a primary school student nicknamed "Woot" drinks from the water spout after a lunch of curry in his school's cafeteria. The students at this provincial school in Si Saket Province (the country's poorest) are fortunate to have clean drinking water available thanks to cooperation between community leaders and NGO support; most of the children in this province do not. Women enrolled the Arzu program receive higher-than average compensation for their work as rug weavers, and are required to attend literacy classes. They also have access to day care for their children, hot water to wash clothes, a kitchen, and a garden where they can grow their own vegetables and herbs. 12) A group of Filipino children gather together for a picture expressing their happiness after watching a concert presented at the Batu Batu Naval Base on a neighboring island near Tawi Tawi. The concert was connected to the Hospital Ship USNS Mercy. Mercy's stop in Tawi Tawi is the third operational port during its humanitarian deployment to South and Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands. Mercy provides medical and humanitarian assistance needs, providing a range of services ashore as well as aboard the ship. 15) A 2013 Wikimedia image features a 14-year-old-boy who wants to be a doctor when he’s older. For now, he’s a peer educator at a UNICEF school in the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan. Aid from the UK is helping UNICEF provide education for over 1,000 children, as well as training teachers, and providing educational supplies to schools.
