Roxanna Koohgoli obtained her experience and knowledge of research through a combination of local and international platforms, bringing fresh insights when approaching research. While completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph, she sought out experts at the Institute of Cellular Medicine in Newcastle, UK to conduct a research project integrating the role of nutrition with medicine. Through her heavy science background, her interest in communication practices had grown as a personal interest in professional trajectory. She successfully organized food system symposiums at the University of Manitoba which inspires innovation and encourages collaboration amongst graduate student and faculty within various departments across the university, to address several facets of food systems.
Roxanna has travelled to over 30 countries, where she worked alongside local health authorities to provide basic healthcare in the regions. She became a core team member of NIGH in 2019, and is responsible for media relations, website design, and initiating social media initiatives. Roxanna serves as the lead strategist in creating pre-populated messaging for NIGH development team members both locally and with the international chapters, that reflect the region’s culture and behavioural trends, such as individualists or collective societies.
