Poonam Sharma, RN, BN, MN is a Canadian public health nurse who has been involved globally with the NIGH team to advocate for the UN Sustainable Development Goals since 2008. Poonam’s nursing passion is rooted in the social determinants of health in the community. She has a diverse background in public health with experience in family health- maternal health, newborn care, communicable diseases and oral health. Poonam believes as global citizens, nurses are in a strategic position to maintain, promote and protect the health of populations both now and the future, the UN SDGs are one means to this end. She currently serves as the Peel Chapter President-Elect for the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario.
