ANDREW MUKHWANA
EDUCATION LEADER & WORLDWIDE NETWORKER
EDUCATION LEADER & WORLDWIDE NETWORKER
NIGH Advisory Council
We first met Andrew in 2010 at an international NGO conference convened in Caux, Switzerland by Initiatives of Change (I of C) — a global NGO movement of people of diverse cultures and backgrounds — who are committed to the transformation of society through changes in human motives and behaviour, starting with themselves. Andrew had been associated with this NGO — formerly called Moral Re-Armament (MRA) -- since a teen-ager and has, with his wife — Jeniffer — served for many years as national leaders of this NGO in their homeland of Uganda. Prior to their travel to Switzerland in 2010, Andrew had established a ‘Teachers’ Dialogue’ to encourage better understanding and trust between Christian and Muslim educators in Uganda and across East Africa. In 2011, Andrew served as Co-Chair of the distinguished International Muslim & Christian Teachers’ Dialogue convened at the I of C Headquarters (again) in Caux, Switzerland, where educators from the United Kingdom, Middle East, United States, Nigeria and Egypt participated.

Andrew has served as a well-respected Headmaster at the Summit View Army Primary School in Kampala — overseeing all aspects of the education and welfare of students who are the children of Uganda’s active-duty military personnel. In this capacity, Andrew collaborated with NIGH and others to tell the story of his faculty and students celebrating in Kampala’s 2017 UN Day — promoting the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Andrew, Jeniffer and their family have now established their Canadian Permanent Residence — through the new Canadian Immigration Pathway since their arrivals in Canada in 2018 and 2019 respectively and are serving in the North York region of Toronto Ontario. Recently, Andrew completed his Community Service Worker course at Trios College in the Toronto Ontario Campus in February of 2023.
As well, he has been appointed President of the Buruli Cultural Association Inc — sited in Toronto , Canada — by the King of Buruli Kingdom in Nakasongola Uganda. Together with his team, Andrew is organizing the first Buruli Prestigious Convention scheduled for September, 2024 with a Royal Grand Banquet on the 7th of September at the Celebrations Banquet Hall in Toronto. Andrew is a church leader at the Dawes Gospel Church in North York Toronto. He has also continued his commitment to the worldwide 'Teachers' Dialogue' — now using WhatsAp technology to facilitate ongoing discussions with and contributions by Africans and African Diaspora from more than 80 countries. As a NIGH Advisor, he is now collaborating to encourage the Teachers' Dialogue network to join — as 'concerned citizens' — within NIGH’s worldwide advocacy to promote the 17 |
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and our collective commitment to the Nightingale Declaration for A Healthy World.
Andrew is a significant asset to his community, church, co-workers and family — with deep concern to be of support — however and whenever he can — to Canada’s and the world's African diaspora — as well as to all peoples. As well, he is a beloved father who, with Jeniffer, has raised four children to become successful and thriving young adults.
