The Nightingale Initiative for Global Health (NIGH) is a grassroots, nurse-inspired movement to increase global public concern for and commitment to the priority of human health — and, now, for achieving the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — all as health determinants.

Our Mission is to engage the common values and wisdom of millions of nurses, midwives and concerned citizens and to act as a catalyst for the transformation of individuals, communities and society for the achievement of a healthy world.
Our Purpose is to promote and model new methods for working together in the global community and for raise global public concern and commitment to achieving a healthy world.
Our collaborative initiatives and communications give nurses, midwives and concerned citizens a voice and create opportunities for them to realize the potential for their unique contributions toward health and well-being for all.
We honor the legacy of Florence Nightingale and other nurses and healthcare workers — past and present — who have shown, by their example, how their actions contribute significantly to a peaceful, prosperous and healthy world.
