ICN's President Celebrated at the 2015 UN CSW in New York City!
Dr. Judith Shamian — President of the International Council of Nurses (ICN) — was celebrated at two of NIGH's events during the 2015 United Nations 'CSW' — Commission on the Status of Women — convened March in New York City.
Pictured here is Dr. Shamian (far right) at the 'Gala Celebration' NIGH hosted in her honor. She is standing with nursing leaders representing NIGH and STTI with the UN DPI-Non-Governmental Organizations.  From the left, Raissa Sanchez for STTI — Gloria Chan, Darren Panicalli and Dr. Holly Shaw for NIGH. Dr. Shaw also serves as a Member of the UN DPI NGO  Executive Commitee. Photo is accessed from NIGH's archives.

For NIGH's official UN CSW 'Parallel Panel' on March 12th, 2015, Judith Shamian prepared the video presentation featured here.

A longtime Canadian nursing leader and trend-setter, Judith Shamian was elected President at ICN's Quadrennial Congress in Melbourne, Australia in 2013. She is also the former President and CEO of  VON — the Victorian Order of Nurses — and past
President of CNA — the Canadian Nurses Association. She has extensively published and

spoken — both nationally and internationally — on a wide range of topics. Government departments and agencies and academic bodies — including the World Health Organization (WHO) — often call on her to speak and consult on many issues surrounding nursing, health human resources, leadership and health-care policy.

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) is a federation of more than 130 national nurses associations, representing the more than 16 million nurses worldwide.  ICN is the world’s first and widest-reaching international organization for health care professionals — founded in 1899. Operated by nurses and leading nurses globally. ICN works to ensure quality nursing care for all, sound health policies globally, with the advancement of nursing knowledge, and the presence worldwide of a respected nursing profession and a competent and satisfied nursing workforce.
